The monetary, the material... even success, the things you place your importance on - can never satisfy you. They will never make you happy because they never end. There's no amount of money that will ever make you stop, if money is what you care about. You'll keep going.
"Oh I've got a million. Gotta get 10.
Got 10, gotta get 100.
Got 100, gotta get 5.
Got 5, gotta get a billion."
If its cars, you'll never have enough cars. If its women, you'll never have enough. If it's success, you can never get enough of that.
I realised that. It keeps calling you like a drug. It's a hamster wheel.
But, if you place your importance on appreciation and love, that is enough. There is enough of that in everybody's life right now, if they just took the time to look. In my life, I just took the time. And that goes for everybody.
Caveat: Thoughts and statements like this predicate themselves on the assumption that you do in fact already have enough, or will eventually have enough. For some people reading this, that may not be true. If you are fleeing a warzone, or have lost your main source of income, it's completely natural and makes sense to focus on the problems at hand. But I feel that this idea of focussing on gratitude is a valuable message for the majority of people reading this.
